Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butler County is forming a task force aimed at developing our program in Augusta and Andover. Currently, almost all of our funding is generated in El Dorado, even though more and more matches are made outside of El Dorado. We also need to increase awareness in these two towns about our program. If you are interested in being a part of the "A" team, please give our office a call. We are needing some help, and would appreciate your input
Share a Little Moment Presentations
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butler County has begun a concerted effort to re-introduce ourselves to Butler County Communities. It is unbelievable to us that many people in Butler County don’t even know we’re here, and we are trying to fix that!! We are looking for opportunities to present to various groups, simply to get the word out about who we are and what we do. If you are involved with a group who would like to hear our message, please call Valecia to set up a time to do so. Our presentations can be tailored to fit your group’s needs; they can be from five minutes to an hour, anywhere in the county. Help us Share a Little Moment to make some Big Magic!
The Pumpkin Patch
On October 23, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butler County traveled out to Walter's Pumpkin Patch for an evening of fun! All the matches and waiting Littles had a great time playing, eating, and of course, picking pumpkins! Attendance was great, with just under 20 people participating. This was the first major activity planned by the Big League, which is a group of Bigs willing to help organize match and waiting Little activities. Current members of the Big League include Heather Fangmann, Melissa Walthers, Eden Fuson, and Junilda Scribner. A Big thank you to these Big Sisters for your help with group activities! We
Need YOU!!!
It takes many
people to help our program run smoothly, so we have a number of
different ways for you to pitch in and help the kids of Butler and
Greenwood Counties! Here are just some of the possibilities:
- Serving
on our Board of Directors, which requires attendance at monthly
meetings, involvement with fundraising activities, overseeing
financial and program related activities, and networking with
other businesses and organizations
- Being a
Big Brother or Big Sister in the school system
- Helping
to organize some of our group activities
- Being a
Big Brother, Big Sister, Big Couple, or Big Family within the
community-based program to one of our kids on the waiting list
- Pitching
in with our fundraising activities, particularly Bowl for Kids’
Sake, which takes place in the spring
Be thinking
of ways you can use your own interests and talents to help us reach
as many kids as possible!
