Match Types:
Big
Brother -- A man who is matched with a Little Brother and spends time
in the Community doing fun activities.
Big
Sister -- A woman who is matched with a Little Sister and spends time
in the Community doing fun activities.
Family --
A married couple with children who are matched to a child and
together spends time with the child in the community-based
program. The child gets two mentors and their children to spend
time with and forms relationships with all.
Couple --
A married couple who is matched to a child and together spends
time with the child in the community-based program.
The child gets two mentors to spend time with and forms relationships
with both.
Summary of
Community Based BBBS program:
Community-based -- Volunteer and child spend 6-8 hours a month together. They
may do things as simple as washing
the car or
helping with outside chores; shooting hoops or sharing
a meal. The focus
is on the volunteer(s) and child forming a solid friendship.
Volunteers are at least 16 years of age, a junior in
high school, and have
a valid drivers license. Children can be matched with
men, women, couples or families in this program. |
