Littles participate
in Governor's One Shot Turkey Hunt
Littles Jesus Romero from Wichita and Matt Bohnert
from El Dorado were two of six youngsters from across the state
of Kansas who participated in the 17th Annual Governor's One Shot
Turkey Hunt April 4th and 5th. While neither managed to bring home
a bird, both got to meet some great folks and received lots of
great prizes, including a lifetime Kansas hunting license.
Both Jesus and Matt had a great time, seeing lots of birds but
just not being able to bring one home. Overall, only 30 percent
of the hunters managed to bring in a tom, so they were in good
company!

Joining Jesus and Matt at the awards banquet held Saturday evening
were Big Randy Wells and his wife Marilyn and their Little Jonathon
Sherman and Big Mike Christensen and his Little Dana Schweers.
All enjoyed the program, which included remarks by Rob Keck, President
of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Governor Sebelius and Secretary
Hayden.
Jesus and Matt are anxious to get back in the field and give it
another try to bring home their first turkey!
