BBBS of Sumner
County Dove Hunt
September
7 & 14, 2003
Sheriff Gilkey and the Sumner County Sheriff's Department
hosted dove hunts for matched and waiting Littles on September
7th and 14th. Randy Wells, Kansas Cops for Kids Coordinator, and
Gene McCauley, Kansas Pass It On Coordinator, joined Linda Pike,
BBBS of Sumner County Executive Director and Sheriff Gilkey and
his deputies for evening hunts on both days.
As you can see from the photos below, everyone enjoyed the outing.
In addition to getting the Littles out to enjoy and evening dove
hunt, it was a great opportunity for them to meet and spend some
quality time with members of the Sumner Co. Sheriff's Department.
As a result of the time spent with his Little, Sheriff Gilkey decided
to sign up and become a Big Brother! Congratulations Sheriff...that's
another lucky Little Brother who gets matched!

Here are some of the eager hunters, getting ready to head for
their stations in the field for the evening dove hunt. |

If you look close, you will see shells in the air as two of
the hunters are taking aim at passing doves. |

Gene McCauley is shown explaining the operation of the Remington
1100 youth model shotguns to the Littles prior to heading out
for the hunt. |
