Rifle Training Class

September 20,2003 Lake Afton Gun Range

Six matches and four waiting Littles participated in a Rifle Training Class, taught by Mike Knotts and members of Young Hunter Safety, Inc. at the Lake Afton Gun Range. The primary purpose of the class was to provide rifle shooting instruction to Littles who planned on participating in the special Youth Deer Hunt the following weekend. However, the class was not limited to those hunters. Two matches joined the class, simply to learn more about gun safety and to learn to shoot a rifle.

All shooters began with small-bore rimfire rifles. Those getting ready for the following weekend's deer hunt were then given an opportunity to fire the larger caliber .243 rifles that were to be used.

All of the participants went home with a better understanding of how to put a hole in the center of the target, even if not all actually accomplished the feat!
