Cabin
Country Pheasant Hunt
Jan. 11, 2004
Bill Saiff III, host of the popular PBS Cabin
Country outdoors show, hosted a pheasant hunt for two Sedgwick Co Littles
during his recent filming trip to Kansas. Littles Dana Schweers
and Jonathan Sherman, accompanied by their Bigs, spent a cold but
sunny morning tromping the fields east of El Dorado, KS hunting
pheasants courtesy of Billy Jackson and Flint Hills Hunting Preserve.
Steve Rist from Kansas Hunt
Club and his son worked as guides for
the hunt.
The morning hunt was a successful one with 6 roosters bagged between
the two Littles. Bill used the opportunity to work with the Littles
to sharpen their upland hunting skills. Prior to going to the field,
Bill gave each a quick shooting lesson as they busted clays. Billy
and Steve chimed in with bits of upland wisdom as the Littles watched
a very competent Brittany work the fields and point the birds.
KS BBBS wants to thank Bill Saiff and Cabin Country, Billy Jackson
of Flint Hills Hunting Preserve, and Steve Rist and the members
of the Kansas Hunt Club for making this hunt possible. We need
more volunteers like these to step up and Pass It On!
Plan on watching Cabin Country next fall...you'll probably see
Dana and Jonathan having a great pheasant hunt!
