L.A.W. Camp 2004
July
13-15, 2004
The
9th Annual L.A.W. Camp was held at Lake Afton July 13-16. 150 children
from Sedgwick County, including 75 kids from Big Brothers Big Sisters,
had the experience of their life. Hosted by the Sedgwick County
Sheriff's Office and Kansas Army National Guard, LAW (Leaders, Achievers,
Winners) Camp is intended to create a partnership bwtween law enforecement
and youth by creating a positive experience using law enforcement
as role models, building self esteem, confidence and trust by involving
the participants in activities that stimulate their interest.
Pass
It On Staff and Volunteers were eager participants this year, helping
with fishing activities and providing teaching and assistance at
the pellet gun range. Volunteers from Young Hunter Safety, Inc.
and from Sedgwick Co. 4-H Shooting Sports provided hours of instruction
to all of the campers at the pellet gun range, giving many of the
children their first opportunity to participate in a target shooting
sport.
