Chisholm Trail Safari Club Training Hunt, 9/22
September
22, 2004
Members
of the Chisholm Trail Chapter of Safari Club International hosted
a training hunt for Bigs and Littles who passed their Hunters Education
class the previous weekend. They were joined by hunter education
instructors who had taught the class for the Littles. The goal was
to give the Bigs and Littles an opportunity to put their safety
training to work in the field.
The
Littles spent time shooting clay targets before being taken to the
field, 2 and 3 at a time, for a controlled hunt. Volunteer Carl
Conley served as Hunt Master and worked the dogs. Steve Brodie,
local Safari Club President, and Mike Knotts, Master Hunters Ed
instructor worked with each of the Littles as they hunted quail.
Everyone
enjoyed the evening hunt and is looking forward to the fall season!
Kansas
Big Brothers Big Sisters wishes to thank all of the volunteers that
made the hunt a successful one. Thanks also go to the Armour Foundation
for allowing us to hunt their property and to Mike and Jan Novy
from Circle JM Game Birds for donating the quail. Thanks for helping
us Pass It On!

The group of hunters had a great day in the field, watching
the dogs work and enjoying the time outside. |
